It's Not Nice to Gloat, But So What?

I don't really have an extensive post to write about this (I'll save that for fellow Arizonan Craig McDermott), but I'd like to gloat for a bit on the ongoing success of the Russell Pearce recall campaign.

Millions of Americans don't have paid sick-leave... and it effects ALL of us.

The barista who made your latte might have a cough. The cashier handing you your change might have the sniffles. The bus driver, with whom you share the same air for your 30 minute bus ride, might have the flu. Unless you live in San Fransisco, Washington DC, or Connecticut, all of the above are more than possible on a day to day basis. And it's all because paid sick-leave is not mandatory in most of the country.

A Right to Work bill was introduced in the New Jersey Assembly just last week, but legislators are sure that the bill doesn’t stand a chance against the labor-friendly legislature.

 

California to include LGBT history in curriculum

California makes progressive history again! The state legislature sent a bill to Governor Jerry Brown (D) requiring public schools to include the history of the LGBT community and the great contributions they made to society as part of California’s social studies curriculum. This is great news! Of course the social conservatives in the state assembly are accusing California Democrats of “brainwashing” children across the state.
